We are pleased to announce that our new report on our most recent mission to Africa is now available!

Welcome to Just.Equipping

Rev. Dr. Pierre Allard in RwandaJust.Equipping is a Canadian Registered Charity committed to educating, training and equipping in the area of restorative justice. Since 2006, two significant training missions have already taken place in Africa: Rwanda, Burundi, RD Congo and Cameroon. It is clear that what Just.Equipping has to offer in terms of training and equipping is very much needed in many developing countries. Just.Equipping can play a crucial role in the reintegration of offenders, the rebuilding of communities, the comfort of victims and the future of chaplaincy and corrections in these countries. Our unique partnership with Queen’s University lends credibility to the academic component and allows us to issue an international diploma in Restorative Justice.

Our website is developing, but you can now read about the 2007 Mission and access a video of the work in Rwanda. You can also read the 2008 Africa report and watch for a new video to be posted soon. Nelson Mandela has said: “Education is the most powerful weapon that we can use to change the world!”. Just.Equipping is ready to play its part in shaping a better world! But, we cannot do it without your help. Thank you for making our work possible, for praying for us and for carrying in small and big ways the burdens that we bear!

Just.Equipping
is a not-for-profit organization (#889184891RR0001) created in 2006/07.  Just.Equipping is committed to educating, training and equipping prison chaplains and workers in the area of Restorative Justice.  The ‘Just.’ in the name refers to ‘Justice’ but it also conveys that ‘equipping’ is ‘just’ and primarily what we wish to do.

From 1995-2005, the Rev. Dr Pierre Allard, as President,  and his wife Judy, as Executive Director, were involved in the leadership of the International Prison Chaplains’ Association (IPCA).  Through all these years, they felt that one of the most pressing needs for prison chaplains and workers was for training and equipping.  It is to focus on such a need that the new organization Just.Equipping has been launched.

Just.Equipping is committed to a restorative, transformative and biblical vision of justice.  We strongly believe that such a vision can properly equip prison chaplains and workers to do their work more successfully.

Just.Equipping fulfills its mission by:

a)   Sending teaching teams of 4-5 people to developing countries for intensive training sessions;

Basic Restorative Justice Training, participants and teachers, Kigali, 2007

b)   Bringing to Canada a small number of key leaders to benefit from the annual Restorative Justice sessions at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada;

c)   Maintaining an office in Ottawa, Canada.

One of the important features of Just.Equipping is its unique partnership with Queen’s Theological College, Queen’s University.  Because of this partnership, an International Diploma in Restorative Justice can be granted.
