Just.Equipping is a not-for-profit organization (#889184891RR0001) created in 2006/07.  Born out of the International Prison Chaplains’ Association (IPCA), Just. Equipping is committed to educating\training\equipping prison chaplains and workers in the area of Restorative Justice.  The ‘Just.’ in the name refers to ‘Justice’ but it also conveys that ‘equipping’ is ‘just’ and primarily what we wish to do.

From 1995-2005, the Rev. Dr Pierre Allard, as President,  and his wife Judy, as Executive Director, were involved in the leadership of the International Prison Chaplains’ Association (IPCA).  Through all these years, they felt that one of the most pressing needs for prison chaplains and workers was for training and equipping.  It is to focus on such a need that the new organization Just. Equipping is being launched.

Just. Equipping is committed to a restorative\transformative\biblical vision of justice.  We strongly believe that such a vision can properly equip prison chaplains and workers to do their work more successfully. Just. Equipping fulfills its mission by:

a)      Sending teams of 4-5 people for intensive training sessions in developing countries;

b)      Bringing to Canada some key leaders to benefit from the annual Restorative Justice sessions at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada;

c)      Maintaining an office in Ottawa.

One of the important features of Just. Equipping is its unique partnership with Queen’s Theological College, Queen’s University.  Because of this partnership, an International Diploma in Restorative Justice can be granted.

Just. Equipping has just returned from training sessions in Rwanda, February 22 to March 12, 2007.  There are a number of other requests coming our way.

Just. Equipping is led by a Board of Directors:

  • The Rev. Dr Pierre Allard, President

  • Judith Mackenzie Allard, Executive Director

  • The Rev. Rod Carter, Director, Restorative Justice Program, Queen’s University

  • Jacqueline Hodges, Executive Assistant

  • Sue Morse, Program Leader, The John Howard Society

  • Ed Pollitt, Member

  • Irene Sletcher, Treasurer

  • Douglas Umbach, Member

  • Nancy Umbach, Member

  • Michel Beauchamp, Regional Chaplain-Quebec region, CSC – ad hoc member
